 London is the capital of England and the UK. It is also the largest urban area in Britain. London is one of the biggest business, financial and cultural centres in the world. London was founded by the Romans nearly 2000 years ago. The city grew and grew, and still continues to grow. The "City of London", the capitals core, still retains its limited medieval boundaries; but since at least the 19th century, the name "London" has referred to the whole metropolis that has developed around it.
